Hey guys I recently ordered a M17x during cyber Monday week. The laptop configured was 1650ish before tax. I got on the phone and haggled my way down to about $1368. Contempt with that, I went ahead and ordered it on my MasterCard.

The next day I checked my account, it deducted the exact amount.
A week later I check my account again and it is all back. Every penny.
Today my M17x arrives in the mail.

I'm wondering did Dell secretly create an account for me or something because I'm looking at what appears to be a free laptop. I checked my account where I had my M17x in the cart and nothing is there. No credit card information, no signs of me having any financial plan/account there, just my M17x still sitting there in the cart.

Will Dell take my money later? But why would they take my money AFTER shipping it. I see ZERO sign of me having an dell credit card or w/e bs they tried to get me to sign for. Should I give them a call or what, Idk what to do tbh.

Dell will dock the cost of the laptop in credit only off your mastercard to test if it works and you have the credit to pay for the laptop. They will not actually bill you until they are ready to ship.

But doesn't seemed to have happened. Have you checked your mastercard since it has been dispatched? I would call Dell just in case.

If you did a order through the phone then a Dell financial rep would do a follow-up call after with you to confirm you authorize the charge. At that point you will see a 'place holder' charge on your credit card and a actual charge immediately after the item is shipped from their warehouse.

I didnt get charged until a week after my laptop came in. They didn't send you a free laptop. They just checked to see if you have enough money in your account before they do the full transaction.

It's called a credit hold, charge happens after shipment.

In dealings with large sums of money, funds often aren't released to companies until it's confirmed that you've received the item in correct working order.
