This morning I have had some serious problems booting and using my R1. When it first booted up it had some initial problems with enabling Norton 360 antivirus and accessing documents form the C drive and my external drive. It also could not use Skype and IM. The error I got was a corrupt disk and that I should run a check-disk. So I shut down and booted up and this is what I get:

    Black screen with this message:

    Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    volume label is os.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. you
may cancel this disk check, but it is strongly recommended
    that you continue.
To skip disk checking, press any key within 1 second(s).

This message has stayed on the screen for well over an hour while I have been working on my M11x. Can anyone help me to understand how to fix this, to run checkdisk? When I tried running checkdisk the computer told me to schedule it to begin upon retsarting, so that is what I have done, a few times.

Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks.

It does sound like a HDD failure. Use a Win7 DVD to boot from and choose Repair. You can enter console and try manually running the diagnostics.
Alternatively, you can remove the HDD and connect it externally to your M11X, then run checkdisk.

Booting from the Win7 DvD seemed to do the trick. It ran the checkdisk which took a few hours and booted up properly and seems to be working well now.

    Thanks! :D
