I'll preface this thread by stating that I'm not certain if this should be its own thread, or rather merged into one of the many ordering discussion threads, however my issue doesn't seem common, and I can use all the helpful feedback possible, in order to join the Alienware fellowship.
I spent an hour trying to order my M17x R4 configuration with a Non-Us sales rep, and eventhough he was willing to give me the discounts I needed, we faced an annoying and unfortunate roadblock. I was told that if I was given a coupon code by my sales Rep I would not be able to use it with my Paypal Premier Us Verifed Account. This is problematic since I have all my funds on my paypal account, and am not interested or able to create a Dell Preferred Account and pay later. I have the money ready and at hand, and am more than happy to spend it on an Alienware.
I'm sure I can't be the only person in the world who tried to order their A/W via paypal, after getting a discount from a sales Rep. My rep wasn't able to get any help from his manager, but told me he would call me on the morrow after consulting with the higher level Managerial Chain, in order to try to get my issue resolved.
If anyone here has ordered their A/W via paypal after getting a discount from a Rep, I'd be eternally grateful for your input and advice on how to resolve this problem and get my laptop ordered Asap. Feel free to pm me your Sales Rep information who helped get you a discounted A/W that was then paid for Via paypal, and I'll make sure to +Rep you and praise your noble help![]()

If you were unable to pay with paypal it's probably not the sales rep who was preventing you but whatever policy or whatever Dell has that was blocking you.
You shouldn't have to jump through hoops for a payment options; if they want your money they should find a way to accommodate you. These reps are working on commission and if they want your money they should work for it.
Try contacting Allan and getting a quote; have a look at this thread.

It's understandable because Paypal takes a small percentage fee. With these expensive machines, it's a sizable fee that Dell loses out on. That's why the Clevo resellers offer a 3% discount if you don't use Paypal.
-
Yes I understand they lose 3%, however because of that I can now not use paypal as a payment method to buy an A/W??? Paypal is one of, if not the most, popular methods to purchase things in the world, but its a no go for A/W? Rep seemed to imply if it was for an Inspiron/Xps or wtvr the paypal method would be ok, but not for A/W since its the elite offering.. Makes no sense at best, and is criminally foolish at worst.

Well, in France, not sure about the rest of EU, you can't pay any Dell product with PayPal. But in the US Dell accepts PayPal.
Why not transfer the funds to your account and use your CC? -
Never had a credit card yet, and don't really want to acquire one at this time. All the business I do is via paypal, and I have never had a problem buying a plethora of things with it till now. In theory I could transfer the funds to my bank account and perhaps pay that way, however that would take a few days and I sorta need to order this A/W asap. Just seems a bit outlandish that Paypal wouldn't be accepted in the US, the EU i can understand since things are a bit lucrative there, but even that seems questionable.

no debit card either?
-
bank transfer? that option is possible in netherlands.
also you could get a one time CC and load it then pay with it. -
Do have a debit card, but wanted to pay via paypal.
Update:
My 1st Gen i7 laptop randomly decided to die today, and as my business is online I needed a laptop immediately, so i temporarily bought the cheap and decent Asus G75 as a temporary solution from my local best buy. As I was leaving best buy i got a call from my Non-Us rep who told me the issue was resolved, however he wasn't able to do much for me in terms of discounts, as I expected. Atleast I know that Paypal can be used to buy an A/W, and as such I will pursue getting Quotes from Us Sales Reps like Allan and others. I have a month to return this Asus if its not satisfactory, but in the interim untill my A/W would arrive it can serve as a suitable substitute.
Thanks alot for all the replies guys, its due to the Amazing A/W community on NBR that i greatly covet owning the m17x R4, so I hope to join you guys eventually -
