my problem is that when i try to check "manage 3d settings" my control panel crashes and give me the error msg stated above.
i can browse through the other settings without a problem i can also change the settings etc.. but i cant go into the manage 3d settings.
also when i try to go back to the preinstalled nvidia driver (269.03) i still have this problem (didnt have this problem when i received the laptop)

    sofar i tried:
    - to use the driver cleaner pro in safemode to clean all
    - to use the build in "make a clean install in nvidia installer"
    - to use the driver sweeper in safemode
    - + alot other combinations with safemode and with standard windows

Anyone have a solution for my problem?

My specs (tell me if u need more information):
    Alienware m17x r3
    windows 7 home premium
Graphic card: Geforce GTX 580M (60 Hz)

I just installed this very driver on my 3d system too. I uninstalled all the nvidia components restarted whenever prompted and then finally i did a drive sweep to uninstall the leftover registry entries. once more rebooted and then reinstalled with the new Nvidia driver downloaded from the same location. It went smoothly.

Try reverting back to your original drivers before your attempted this. See if that works.

    i42 Software - Projects
    "Download Windows AlienwareAeroFix.exe (v1.0)"

Very pecualir....I never used safe mode for any of the procedures. 3D works fine. Infact I was astounded yesterday when I tested the nvidia 3D. Everyone kept telling the 3D was like watching into a box..I was shocked when I saw the nvidia logo pop visually out of the screen.

But these do happen randomly. Do you have any GPU manipulating softwares installed....by that I mean any overclocking software etc. Well you could do one thing buddy. Just back up your system partition using windows back up into another partition of the same comp. And then just reinstall your system. Do this if you have the time and high speed internet so that you are not frustrated waiting to update stuff..I work with only 512kpbs. Lol.

There is something causing this glitch. I doubt its hardware. Oh...i m using bios A06 by the way. The new driver from that link works great. Dont worry about that. Make sure your download integrity if fine too.
