    Hi,

I just updated my M17xR3's OS to Windows 8. Everything went well except for the bluetooth driver installation.

I finally found the windows 8 drivers from the dell website but halfway through the installation, they asked me to press the wireless switch to activate the bluetooth service. I did as told but nothing happened. Device manager also showed nothing related to bluetooth. The driver was supposed to install bluetooth but yet wanted me to flip on a switch that does not work cause bluetooth is not installed.

Can someone advise me on this?

    Thank you.

could it be that my bluetooth device is not detected?

Is your OSD working, or maybe you need to install this also?
If you didn't install OSD yet, then I think your OSD buttons (like wireless) might not work correctly.

If you go into Device Manager, how many unknown devices or devices with an exclamation mark do you see?

Looks like you have not enabled bluetooth via OSD (hardware button), via BIOS (you can check whether it is enabled) and Windows 8 (it has it's own "airplane mode").

Also there is thread in official dell support forum, Windows 8 Driver Request Forum for Unsupported Systems - Laptop General Hardware Forum - Laptop - Dell Community

There is updates for Dell Bluetooth Drivers (we have 375 model, copy-paste):

    • For systems with Dell Bluetooth 355, 360, 365, 370, 375 and 380. Use the Bluetooth 380 Driver here: ftp1.dell.com - /folder00865420m/1/
There is also a Broadcom Bluetooth Update here: http://www.broadcom.com/support/blu...www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
