Hey guys I am about to crack open my m17x and give her a clean out along with some mods.

I am wondering what sort of methods you guys use for cleaning out all the built up dust?

I have seen those compressed air canisters, but are there any other ways it can be done using more common household items?

Vaccum cleaner but partially block the hole of the hose so it's not as strong, but i use the compressed air myself.

I found out that just the vacum-cleaner, aswell as those sticks with wool on them that you rinse your ears with, works well for me :)

Cheap and simple, and you can just throw them away when they've gotten full of dust.

When my laptop is torn apart, I actually wash my heat sink in the kitchen sink. Seriously.

Then to get the crud off of the fan blades, I just use one Q-tip after another until they are clean again.

Yeah, sure! But best if you draw a big 5-gallon bucket of hot water and put a bunch of laundry soap in first, swish it all around, then immerse and scrub real hard with a wire brush. Rinse with a good long high-pressure blast from the garden hose. Works perfectly every time!
