    Hey guys,

Decided on giving R2 a try.

Wondering what deals everyone here has gotten calling in and what tactics they may have used.

Pretty much looking for the best I can get for $2000

    Hoping for
OS : Windows 7 Home Premium
    Processor : i7-720QM+
    Display : 1920x1200 RGB LED
    Memory : 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz, maybe 6?
Hard Drive : TWO 500 GB SATA (7200 RPM)
GPU : Crossfire 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870
    Color : Lunar Silver

Someone listed this combination at $1600 , is that realistic?

If i did go up to $2000 what should I choose to upgrade with that $400

and i've never been someone to buy warranty, but for this. 2 years? Maybe call them later on and threaten to cancel for a cheap price?

    Any tips are appreciated.

FYI, this would be a pure gaming, for fun machine.

no need for the 2 hdd, just take one and upgrade to ssd later for cheap.

Stay with 4 Gb of ram, also no need for 6 Gb

Buy all the warranty you can get. that's the most important thing.

My honest advice. Stay away from this machine. Very inconsistent and unstable. You may get lucky, but many of us are left with machines that have issues that have not been resolved going back to summer 2009.

I tried the Asus G73JW-A1 and didnt like it.... what will i like then lol

How do i get them to lower the price.

I can minipulate the crap out of people but they wouldnt budge past $100 dollar discount and reducing the 3 year warranty by 100 bucks

the op is talking about the r2 and it seem that you have the r1. the r2 is pretty stable and most problems have been fix.

to the op, your best bet is to check out the outlet, there is a 15% coupon going on. which makes r2 prices very affordable.

but if you want to buy new then pm me, i have a very good sells rep for epp.

I dont need a 3D laptop.... what's the point? When we get to no glasses it'll maybe be worth it.

3d will be an option, and maybe RGB LED will be an option as well, so why not wait a couple of days to have all the options available? And who knows, CF/SLI could be an option too.

Honestly you are indifferent and will have to wait till r3 is out which is Monday. Systems are not built on weekends so even if you put an order in right now it will not go in production till late Monday after processing and payment verification. Just wait till Monday when the r3 pricing is released and try to call in at that time and negotiate pricing on what ever unit you want. I am biased to the R2 because of the screen and dual gpu. I moved from m15x to m17x only for Screen and partly for crossfire. I game very little so having the BEAST video card is not necessary but the RGB screen is worth every penny and even double. You make the educated decision and decide what benefits you in the R3 and what benefits you in R2. If you go R2 route you can always upgrade the CPU, SSD or Ram after market for cheaper. R3 you can get SSD and Ram cheaper but CPU is going to be hard to find right away. Either way negotiate warranty pricing and buy it at time of purchase since it will be much cheaper as much as half off

Yeah the best thing to do right now is wait for the R3 release, they will still sell the R2 even after the R3 release and you will probably get a better deal since they will want to phase out the R2s out soon.
