I just got latest Pascal Architecture Quadro P5000, Which based on GTX1070
It has 16GB of VRAM!!!

Here goes few detail pictures for P5000

Compare with My GTX980M
Size is same and has similar layouts too.
![]()
Fit perfects with my M17X R4
I did upgrade my Heatsink with 3rows for CPU and 6rows for GPU for keep it cool.

Here is What Bios shows up.
I got Win10 64bit with EFI boots.
I tried with Single PEG but failed.
Seems Pascal only support eDP signal for screen.
I guess If change to 3D screen, might works for Single PEG use. Update me If anybody has tips for this.

here is How GPU-Z shows up
As there is no official driver for P5000 for laptop's yet, most of information not shows out correct specs.
But as you cans see it has 16GB VRAM and 2048 shader units.

This is 3DMark Fire strikes for P5000
check for more details with this links : http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11422803
I might look over proper driver's for future tests.
Will post more updates later.

Was too excited to see a new Pascal card in proper 3.0b form

A P5000 would have the same pricing as a brand new 1070 based notebook. This is not exactly cost efficient for gamers.
-
Yeah lol but the form factor is same, I believe this has the same TDP like the Zotac one from those 3Dmarks.Last edited: Jan 16, 2017Striker1234 likes this.

this is terrific! the layout is almost identical to GTX980M! Thank you for the clear pictures!
-
Very cool!
-
Nice! Good to see these beasts still going.
How much was the card? -
probably both of your livers and an eyeball. but hey, upgrade!
-
That'd be a downgrade for me (Dual 1080s >P5000)
-
All depends on what you do.
I would take a P5000m over a pair of 1080s any day haha.ssj92 likes this. -

MR. FOX tell me something positive!!!!!!
How much the GPU?
Where you Buy it!!!?!?!?!?!
And if / working perfect , whats boost clock?
PS: NO SLI possible? -

Great!!!
Where to buy it? -
It be probably be cheaper to get a brand new laptop with a 1070n, then to upgrade your old laptop with a p5000m.
I am not joking. This ISNT a upgrade path. -

My old Laptop have a 4960X
-
I guess that settles the question of whether or not Alienware can handle internal edp -> lvds conversion. Seems like we have a winner here. Where in the world did you find this card?
-
Edit: misread that. Still not worth it at all. A 6700k clocked high would be close enough. I wont bother unless you have a e5 1680v2 and really need it P5000m for pro apps.
The quadros are generally always MXM.
There is an actual 980 desktop quadro thats MXM too. -
I presume the source might be the production line directly, No one would have access to these Expensive binned cards right unless pulled from a system, these might be featured in the Precision and Zbook lineup, Could also might be in MSI's Workstations too.
Also iirc the desktop 980 full GM204 Quadro never made it to MXM3.0b form it was M5500M..from MSI WT72-QN - Retarded by design MSI cards.
Anyways kudos to the man for bringing this up.Last edited: Jan 17, 2017 -
P5000 = underclocked 1070 plus 8GB = 100W
I really like the -1 Mhz core clock (GPU-Z 'bug'), that's awesome.

Is there any possible mod to Driver or vbios for proper use on my system?
Current modded driver isn't works for DX12 and OpenGL well yet. -
I got it from a supplier who always supply me laptop parts.Ashtrix likes this.
-
Notebookcheck says it has 1792 shaders (compared to 2048 on the P5000).
-
Sorry typo, I meant to say P5000, since this thread is about the P5000 after all.
EDIT: Here are the already released models:

Ah, yes, of course. Seeing your post I hoped there's a cheaper alternative (if only somewhat underclocked), but then I saw that there's a cut in shaders as well which is less cool.Ashtrix likes this.

Does it mean it works on alienware 17 60 hz ??
has somebody tried in 60 hz display ? -
PM me if you can, detail of this supplier.....I would like to test in M18x R2

Me too

@SeeDLesS , Did the machine post in your 60Hz R4 ? the BIOS shows the proper info. Also the FS you made was that done on an External Display ?
Yes the 120Hz upgrade is necessary from what I 've read, Alongside dropping the MXM 3.0b reference PCBs Nvidia (they capitalized, levraged on the full GP chips making the transition to the M to the DT class GPUs) also dropped the LVDS support, so need an eDP capable machine. Here read this if you didn't ( MXM3.0b). But the Display pipleline with the Ivy platform PCH (but the three people who upgraded to Maxwell had the eDP panels) does allow due to the internal conversion I guess, but with specific modding & particular settings maybe ( Prema's take on the Ivy with Clevo). But Alas !! Svl7 is MIA but there's another knowledgeable person who is good with the sBIOS mods for Ivy-Alienwares (Another link, M17x R4, M18x R2) but he got Pheonix DM machine as of now.
Edit - One Two Three Alienware 17 Ranger upgraded to Pascal, all 120Hz. Fourth @woodzstack could you please clarify this a bit
Edit 2 - Perhaps @t456 could shed some light on this FDI and Pascal with Haswell, Does it have any chance like this ? Since the Haswell Mobile CPUs also support Intel FDI technology & has the MUX, LVDS & eDP ports on MoBo to switch like the old R4, I could find Intel ARK showing this only in the case of CPUs, cannot find for the HM77 or HM87 chipsets specs page, Thanks.Last edited: Jan 17, 2017 -
Looks like it works fine on 60hz with use of optimus, no need to hack bios, already does edp->lvds conversion without problem. Old alienwares are simply amazing.Papusan, Solo wing, brajesh143 and 1 other person like this.
-
Yeah definitely any-day over the new gimped machines.
Hoping to see it in the AW17 too but the bummer is no unlocked sBIOS on the Haswell Revision Alienwares which cuts down the chances to slim with LVDS and the Optimus is a headache not worth at all for the PEG capable systems - 120Hz screen ones, But for the M18x R2 it would be phenomenal really wish it works in the M18x R2.brajesh143 likes this. -
Yes, I work in 60Hz display.
I can't run on Single PEG option. I am running with Optimus now

You can buy the Panel off ebay by part no around 90USD, from a top rated plus seller.
Make sure you get the eDP cable. -
Wow if it works on alienware m17xr4 60 hz...it should work on my alienware 17 60 hz in optimus mode ?? while playing games i can swich to non optimus mode connecting to external monitor ? is this possible ?
-
Wat do u mean my haswell refresh ? Mine is a alienware 17 60hz with i7 4700MQ with gtx 765m plz tell me will it work in optimus mode ? i am eying on a gtx 1070

I want a complete set for Whole assay with Red color cover
I got a black M17X R4, So I want it make Red & Black 2 tones for coolness. -

@Prema , Perfect compatible with my p570wm3 ?
I have 120hz display 3 emiter etc
-
Yes the machine you have is Haswell, But I don't know whether the Haswell HM87 Lynx Point PCH has that FDI capability or not, the CPU supports it though - from 47xxMQ to 49xxMX. Also unlike the M17x R4 and M18x R2 as I linked in the prev page our last MXM Alienware machines cannot have those unlocked sBIOSes which has multitude options and GFX switching options via BIOS & P5000 is extremely expensive forget it right now.
Yes It should, but imo you need to test it whether it will POST or not, emitter thing check the specifications page of the P5000, It's compatible with 3DVision but no idea If it works or not, again have to test.Last edited: Jan 18, 2017 -

I do not know '' where to buy '', if I knew it would help, 3D is important, but it is not priority, priority is GPU upgrade. -

200USD GPU or screen? -
Lel Screen+ lid assembly for the Alienware M17x R4 Red color lid It is not the GPU for 200USD. That's a Quadro, select binned GP104 you are looking at with 16GB vRAM and robust board more memory than Titan XP. The GPU from Taobao is around ~$1000+ from what dzpliu said, I doubt that price, the Desktop Quadro costs 2.5K and the P5000 should be more expensive than the real GTX1070 because It's MXM and we know the prices of the Clevo GTX 1070 or even a 1080 MXM cards..So It might be costing more than a GTX 1070 based laptop or come close to that price as OP said.
Zotac also costs super expensive because we cannot use the GPU slot in that Magnus EN1070 miniPC to sell our Maxwell MXM cards due to the BIOS in that box, Next is that MXM3.0b based 1070 GTX is also under same TDP and needs slight HS modifications as in compared to this pure MXM3.0b chipset.
For now I will forget to procure this P5000 GPU for upgrade path, might have to sell a kidney and a leg LOL. But nonetheless seeing it in all that glory, It's just superb.Last edited: Jan 18, 2017Papusan likes this. -
Anyone know if this P5000 would work in my HP ZBook 17 (G1) that currently has a Quadro K5100M? I need to either upgrade my GPU or else buy a new laptop, and it's been hard for me to get info on this, but this thread gave me hope seeing someone else did it (albeit with a different laptop).
-
You probably better off buying a new laptop.....P5000 costs something like 1400-1500 USDAshtrix likes this.

ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
it might work but like Raidria said this Quadro is ultra expensive do you specifically need a Quadro? I've seen the Chinese get 970m and 1060 mobiles to work in Older HPs -
Hello,
This is nice, this GPU could probably do much better since we see stock core clock is much lower than on GTX 1070, 1164 MHz against 1443 MHz.
It's impressive they could fit 16 GB of VRAM keeping standard MXM 3.0b form factor, while lot of Pascal cards have less VRAM and manufacturers make larger MXM based PCBs with various sizes and designs.
I saw Quadro P5000 can be found for around 1400$ in China, which is still overpriced as usual for Quadro series since it is mostly for profesional use rather than gaming. It's much more expensive than a MXM GTX 1080. -
ChanceJackson Notebook Evangelist
my guess is that they installed the other 8 GBS on the other side -
Yes, it can be seen on pictures, there are 8 VRAMs in front and 8 others in the back. When you think MSI for example needs to make a PCB which is larger than standard MXM form factor for a 1070 with 8 GB VRAM only...
-
tanzmeister Notebook Evangelist
which brand is the GPU from?
-
tanzmeister Notebook Evangelist
so mobile p5000 does not equal desktop version?
I read desktop p5000 has 2560 shaders
