No way. Not even 780M SLI can handle 4k gaming.

Maybe 980M SLI will be able to. We'll see.

Well no it won't work.. 780M SLI is able to handle 4K but newer games will become a problem...

Just as the other members have stated this would be a no. But you surely could test it at 4k. It would be by no means a crisp 30 or 60 frames. But it would "work".

I disagree, I game at 4k on most games on max with a moderate over click with 680m sli. Games like border lands 2, star craft 2, wow, counter strike go ect. Can all be played maxed out at 4k with no lag and maxed out. Only the super demanding games can't be, like for example bf4. I need to run a mix of high and medium, but even all medium looks better at 4k then ultra at 1080p.

When I say people "can't play at 4K", I mean 50-60 FPS on the maximum settings. That's the ideal situation for gaming. I'm not referring to "acceptable" FPS because that will differ from person to person. So, yes, you can play a game on 4K. Also, there's no way low-medium settings looks better on a 4K display than Ultra at 1080p, lol. But, then again, maybe you see things differently than I do. We're all different.

Either way, it doesn't matter. The person who made this thread wanted to know if a single M290x could play at 4K.

Lol, Those games you mentioned are terrible examples of what 4k is capable of. Games like Metro LL, BF4, Crysis 3 push graphics to their limits, not SC2 and WoW.

Actually it did. What didn't make any sense is you claiming that medium graphic settings in 4K look better than Ultra on Full HD...

Out of all games out that are relevant, probably close to 95 percent or more are playable in high to ultra at 4k. So... 3 of the highest demanding games arent, so to you that means that gaming at 4k ? Isn't possible ? So yeah, made no sense. And bf4 on high at 4k looks way better then 1080p ultra. 1080p looks blurry as hell once you've had 4k, even at ultra. You should try it some time.

IT's good to see that your m18x R2 is capable of doing that. Most of the highest demanding games won't be able to be played with your current config at the max settings. However, that does not mean that it does not work completely, it just means that the experience is different.

Only ones I've come across are games like bf4, metro 2033 last light, crisis 3. But those crazy demanding games are more minority then the majority

Those are also examples of games that benefit from having a wickedly powerful CPU... most games are primarily GPU reliant and do not benefit much from a powerful CPU. They are also among the best games to play because they don't dumb things down to accommodate gaming with pathetic hardware.
