I've got an old M17X R1 I ordered back in 2009. It's had 1 fan replacement for the right GPU.

Now, since this seems to be a weakness in the machine, the replacement has broken.

Last time I got one sent to me free under warranty but this time I'm going to have to order a replacement.

My question is, are the fans the same model for the R1-R3 (how ever many R#'s we're up to by now)

I've found a replacement here, but don't want to spend that much if it won't fit my machine:

Dell OEM Alienware M17X Right GPU Video Card Fan F605N | eBay

(if anyone knows where I could find a preferably new one cheaper that'd be great too)

Thanks in advance, the rattling noise is driving me nuts already lol.

To this date there are three M17x releases:
    M17x, M17x R2 and M17x R3

The M17x and M17x R2 have a lot in commun, so yes, the fans from one function in the other.
    The R3 is very different.

The fan in the e.bay listing will fit and function in your laptop.

    Best wishes

That seller has another listing of the same product £5 cheaper - get that one if your buying! I really get tired at these sellers who charge way over odds for laptop parts on eBay.
