Hello guys, got a M17x-R2, and I would like to buy a SSD. What brand, size and where should I get one ?? And I know I dont have the screws and plugs and all in my second space for a HDD/SDD, so what do I need to order exactly ?

    Thank you

the size really comes down to what you can afford.

IMO 128 Gb is the smallest you would want, 256 GB is nice to have.

if you just the laptop, I would call dell and tell them you did not get the second hard drive caddy, Interposer, and screws. they should have included that with the unit

M17x-E2 has some troubles with SSDs, do a search on the m17x forum on that...

smaller file sizes (4k blocks) are way underperforming...

What I mean is, what "physical" size can fit in ?? Does any SSD fit in it ?? or there are Desktop and Laptop sizes ???

The laptops use a 2.5 inch wide 9.5 mm high drive < pretty much the standard for laptops

I have a 128 GB Corsair Nova SSD and it is fast. Intel has some fast SSDs but they are lower in capacity, 80 GB. Also if you go unplugged for awhile you may want to look at the power consumption, some SSDs use less power than normal HDDs, some use more power. So you could get a increase or decrease in battery life depending on the power consumption of the SSD.

Intel does offer drives larger than 80G. I own a 160G Intel SSD myself (actually, I have both an 80G and a 160G).
