I just had dell tech come over and replace my old 4870's with 5870's.

My device manager, and GPU Z both says ATI 5800 Series card instead of actual model number-My old card used to say 4870 twice under GPU.

Is this normal, or did the Dell send out wrong parts, or did I miss something?

I just reinstalled the driver after the hardware replacement.

    Thanks.

    Thanks

It seems like I have to call them back anyways due to frequent artifacting.

Were you sure about this dude?

I ended up calling tech support, and it now says proper names under device ID.

It all depends on what drivers you are using. I think if you use the "official" dell drivers it says "5870" and if you use the ATI reference drivers it says "5800 series".

You DO NOT want to use the dell drivers...they suck. The ATI drivers are like 10x better.

Did you see which drivers you are actually using? If you are on the "official" dell drivers I bet they are the problem because I never have trouble hooking my R2 up to my TV with HDMI.
