For all of those with m17x r3's, I pose a curious question for you.

How do you clean your M17x R3? Since the lid has a rubber matte surface, I find myself at a bit of a loss on an efficient way to clean the lid. I usually use a damp paper towel and then dry it off with a second dry paper towel. However, I feel as if this rubs on the rubber a little more than my liking. Especially since the matte seems to pick up finger oil relatively easily, I would like to find a way to clean it without hurting the rubberized coating.

So, I was just curious to see how everyone else on NBR treats their alien lovechilds. :) As for the screen, I hear alcohol wipes or certain ethanol based products would be fine for LCD cleaning. I haven't gotten the chance to grab some from the store yet though, so I end up using the same damp paper towel method or microfiber cloth.

I use Windex Electronic wipes. Cheap, leave no residue, dry fast and does a fantastic job. Plus they come is a convienent pack. I use it on the screen first then keys and mouse pad then use the rest of it on the lid.

I use those LCD cleaning wipes both on the screen and the rest of the computer. If they are good enough to clean my LCD without any scratches and marks, then they should definitely do the trick on the rest of the surfaces as well.

Eyeglass cleaning cloth and eyeglass cleaning spray for me. Once the spray runs out, 50/50 rubbing alcohol+water should be fine ;)

Thanks for the response, guys. :) I'll definitely try some of these out when I go out to the store today.

With the purported fragility of the rubber coating, I would avoid cleaning the system too often - I have been pushing down my desire to keep my baby shiny exactly because of this.

I agree. I think rubbing alcohol plus your actual hands rubbing it may wear the coating down :(
