I was just wondering if anybody could suggest some upgrades I could buy and install into my computer myself without much trouble. Im currently running 8gb of memory, intel core I7-2720qm 2.20ghz,raido hard drive. Dont want to spend alot I was just wondering if there is something you guys suggest :) Runs bf3 perfectly on medium setting at 1920 1200 and starts to get a little slower at ultra. Want to be able to run bf4 perfectly when it comes out :D

That depends, what GPU are you running?

You could upgrade your CPU to a 2860 or 2920/2960XM chip, but I don't really see the XMs as that great of an increase. Some have said the 2860QM is the best of both worlds, performance and heat. You could increase your RAM to 16GB, but it's not going to give you any significant increases that you'll notice. At least I haven't noticed any when I upgraded.

As far as running BF4 perfectly, you'll at the least be looking for a 7970M or 680M. Even then, not sure how graphically intense BF4 is. You may want to fork out for a 780M.

By not wanting to spend a lot will prevent you from gaining what you want. GPUs tend to be rather pricey, especially the new ones.

Upgrading your CPU won't change anything for gaming like it use to. It's all in the video cards these days, that would be the first thing I would upgrade and go from there.

Upgrading to the 7970m would be the best thing for gaming performance. You can get one for around $500 on eBay. You could upgrade your RAM or CPU for less, but that won't do much for gaming performance.

I'd take a look at the marketplace. They pop up from time to time for $300-$400 usually. Especially with the next gen cards being released, the price should drop a little more.

+1 on this, I think that the best option is the 7970. I think that BF4 is not going to be hard to play on your machine.

Alright I think Ill just keep it the way it is, I honestly think it will run bf4 fine. And its not really a big deal to crank down the video settings just a little bit.

I'd suggest looking into tweak guides for the game. Most games you can do simple stuff like have shadow quality or reflections etc on low and manage everything else on highest with no real impact on the game.

Funny enough I was just about to post a thread asking the same thing. M17x R4 owner here, and I took want to be ready for some next gen titles.

I'm currently running a GTX675M, are next gen AMD cards better then what Nvidea is offering?

Another question tied into that then, is upgrading the card on the machine itself an easy task?

    Cheers!
