Alright so Iv been setting up my new R3 this weekend did a clean install and what not loading all my stuff on.

Iv now gotten to the point where I want to start bringing out the full potential of the 580m GPU. Iv read a bunch of a threads on here, and realize that the GPU has some thermal throttling that people are working there way around.

Problem is there seems to be quite a few methods, along with a whole degree of varying success for each of them. So my question is what method have people found to be most successful in removing the thermal throttling of this GPU?

My other question is regarding optimus. Is there a way to completely disable this feature? Iv come to notice its response time is not as good as I want. My CAD, and 3D models often lag a bit at the beginning and then smooth out when it switches to the Nvidia GPU. Even setting programs to run of the Nvidia GPU in the driver software does not fix the problem.

I think at this point Id just like to disable it all together if possible to get maximum performance for my applications, unless of course someone has found a way to make it snappy and work well?

    Any advice id appreciated!

first, atm there is no way to fully remove the trottle that comes with the 580M.
anyway to get the most out of yours, in my opinion you should use the bios blindflash method you probably already read about here on nbr.

you can try to assign your programs directly to the 580M by using the driver-options.
if this doesnt work, the only way to "disable" optimus (you cant fully disable it) is to use a modified bios (which is somewhere here on nbr too^^) and deactivate the intel sandy bridge gpu-unit.
