you can only overclock the 2670 a little bit...via setting the bclk...maybe 5% max.

A much better way is to combine that increase in bclk with maximizing your turbo via increasing the tdp with XTU (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility). Set the max turbo tdp to 58w. Actually, you can also set the bclk in XTU too, so this is the only tool you really need. Without increasing the max turbo TDP, your speeds will eventually drop. No apps out there (throttlestop included) will keep your turbo speeds up if you don't increase the TDP

Download HWINFO64 and stress your CPU with prime95. You will see that the multiplier drops after a short amount of time. official specs say the 2670 will do 3.1ghz, but you will never get that with 4 cores stressed. you'll probably end up droping to around 2.4-2.5ghz or less eventually...just monitor HWINFO64 and you will see what i mean. By increasing the TDP, your turbo will stay up. let me know if you need more help

ALso, inorder to OC and increase your tdp settings, you need to set these in the bios:

    in Advanced Menu:

    Overclocking Feature [ENABLED]
    Override Turbo Settings [ENABLED]

Ooops, I meant section 1 will help.

    It's a good read nonetheless, e.g. Intel XTU 2.1

Yeah same, but when I first started I downloaded the latest version which was 3.0 and I couldn't do anything .. hence we have to use 2.1 :)

@ Op ThrottleStop is a really good monitoring program, you can bench within it and monitor everything CPU-wise. So if you want the best, start noting down all these programs you have to download :)
