A list of known issues? That will be tough to really compile as there doesn't seem to be any known common issues at all. Off the top of my head and reading around the forums for you:
- Some people received their machines with either the media bar raised and/or dust in the glass pane of their monitor. I stopped seeing that issue as often at the end of April.
- Some people experienced blue screens. Exact causes - some with the Windows kernel, some with drivers, some with other reasons. Doesn't appear that often.
Just remember that only some people actually experienced this. Speaking for myself, my machine is nearly identical to yours, barring the RAID 0 configuration and I'm experiencing no issues at all. Albeit, I had to return my first m17x R3 due to faults (DVD Dead On Arrival; AlienFX lights on monitor died), but Alienware took great care of me and sent me compensation AND a brand new m17x R3!
Go ahead and get this machine, you won't regret it -
thank you so much for your reply
are cpu and gpu temps good ? no thottling problems ?
do you suggest me intel over dell wireless card ?
if i choose one HD only, can i buy in future an ssd and put it in the emply bay right ?
thak you so much for your kindness again -
I've never had throttling problems while plugged in and with my power plan set to high performance. On battery, I read it does throttle for the GPU. My temps are always fine; both idle at about 55-60 C and in games go up to around 70 C.
I'd recommend getting the Intel if you can and if it's not too costly from Dell. You can buy it aftermarket but it can be tricky to install as it involves removing the keyboard and it can get very frustrating. The card is worth it though - I saw an insane boost in performance after installing it!
Yes, you can buy one HD and place an SSD in the future if you want. I took the default 320GB and put in a Hybrid SSD drive in my computer as soon as I got the machine.
If you have any other questions, go for it -
I believe buzzing speakers is another common issue. (They replaced mine for that reason).
Questions before ordering : any know issue on m17xR3 ?
