    Greetings all.

    1st post.

I recently decided to embrace my 'inner gamer' and move to a full-time Windows user from part-time (Boot Camp).

    I have decided on an Alienware 17 (i7, 32GB, 256GB mSATA, 780M, Win8 Pro).

I have some lingering questions about switching from OS X to Windows. (I've been using Mac since System 7, a la 1991).

I travel. 15-16 days a month away from home. What bag are you commuters using?
I have been looking at the Everki Titan
Everki Titan Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Backpack, fits up to 18.4" | EKP120 | 18.4" Laptop Bags | Cool Laptop Bags | 18.4" Laptop Bags, Backpacks, Briefcases
and the Tom Bihn Super Ego
Super Ego - Our largest laptop messenger bag. Holds a ton of stuff. Built to last. - TOM BIHN

Anyone have any experience with either?

I have an 80GB iPhoto library. Any suggestions on a Windows replacement?

Time Machine is pretty cool. I also use Crashplan to ensure the 3-2-1 rule for data backup.
Any suggestions for a hourly, automated, over-the-air backup for Windows?

There seems to be a serious issue with the Windows version of iTunes and video playback.
It sutters/skips like a motherF*!*$#r. I have confirmed it using my iMac and my current MBP (both i7's) running Win7 (64-bit).

I have to be able to watch my movies (7TB at last count) in iTunes.
I've tried the Apple KB article, the sound output tweaks, etc. The movies play perfectly with VLC.

Appreciate any tips you can offer. Does anyone use this behemoth on their laps? I am moving from a 5lb, 13" laptop to a 9lb, 17" laptop.

first off welcome to NBR Dude!!

I've been using the everki beacon since I got my machine two years ago and its falling apart but still functions for what I need it to do. Titan is huge and I don't have the space to store that when on the go. :p

Not sure about the windows replacement for iphoto so hopefully someone else can help you out there.

There are quite a few different programs for backing up stuff automatically. I prefer to manually backup my machine so I know 100% that its done correctly, but thats just me.

I've had the same problem with itunes occasionally and it irks me as well. Doubt it will get fixed anytime soon though as apple and microsoft are at each others throats.

I've use my machine on my lap and its fine. Does get a bit toasty when gaming sometimes though.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your new alien!!! :D
