    Hello,

I got a letter from Dell recently station that there was a configuration problem and my system needed a heat-sink replacement. When I called them to set up the delivery appointment I was told that its best I send my system in to them because they are unsure that this new heat-sink can fix my problem (prior to this they already changed the mother board, heat-sink, and my 580M).

I have never sent a computer away before so I want to know if this is a good idea. Have any of you send their laptop away for repair? If so how was your experience with it.

Lastly I am kind of concerned with that can happen if the problem is not resolved. I already had three repairs that did nothing-so I am quite skeptical about them fixing my system. Have any of you had an issue that Alienware could not fix, and if so what did they do to resolve it.

    Thank you,

Exchange it for a new one. That's funny because my keyboard wasn't in all the way and aligned when I received my new m17 r4 and they said they can only send someone out and not exchange it. I could return and repurchase but then I would be without a laptop for a couple weeks again.

Now the part you care about, I argued forever to get an exchange cause it didn't make sense that I could return and repurchase and not exchange. They said they only exchange if you've had two or three major repairs. Call and say that. When you were first having problems you inquired when it becomes necessary to do an exchange and they said after two or three repairs and yours is there.

I heard a lot of depot horror stories so try not to send it in. The scariest is shipping damage too.

Good luck hope I was of help!

Thanks for the reply. I have not heard about the 3 major repair exchange policy so maybe I will ask for that instead.

Also I got some upgrades myself - namely the SDD and better ram - should I remove them before I send it back?

    Thanks again,

Yes put it back the original way you received it.
