I have four 4GB RAM sticks that I'm going to put into my M17x R4. Just a question, I know two of the slots are on the underside of the laptop, then two more that are under the keyboard. Is there anything special I need to do with installing the ones under the keyboard? Any configuration I should be aware of?

I've never heard of a certain combination... Trial and error, i can't see any damage created by not plugging it into slot1 vs slot4.

Yeah, I just did it. the PC seems to recognize them all, so hopefully i'm good. I'm just using CPU-Z to see them. Is there any other program I could use to monitor RAM usage?

The reason I asked this is because there's a huge black sticker on the RAM slots under the keyboard that say that i should only use those slots for a quad-core...

The memory slots are setup for dual channel mode. The two on the bottom are a matching set and the two on the top are a matching set.

You can use task manager to watch memory use.
