Got a PS4 coming today and have thought about having it set up in the bedroom. To save space putting a bigger tv in there, I thought I might just run it through my M17 seeing as I'm in the bedroom using that a lot in the evening anyway.

On to my question. I just plug the HDMI lead from the PS4 into the Alienware and then I could - for example - be playing on Steam and then somehow switch inputs and play my PS4?

I don't need to power down the M17 first or anything like that? Also are HDMI's hot swappable, or is it best to plug the lead in and out when powered off (or in standby?) Thanks.

Correct, if you using a M17X System, like mine using a R3 model, there should be a button on keyboard to switch display between your Laptop and HDMI input (mine is Fn+F8). So far I played on my PS3 using this input, just plugging it without needs to power off your laptop first. The screen will go blank for less than a second you should hear the notification sound and OSD HDMI IN Display when your HDMI is plugged.

    I'm considering own a PS4 as well.... :p

Some devices may not work properly with the HDMI in. Try the PS4, if it does not work please submit your feedback to [email protected].
