    Is it possible to run two different GPU's in an M17x R2? 6990 and 7970?

    Won't work. Has to be same model ideally for them to work.

    yep, won't work,
    only thing that will work, other than a second 6990 is 6970...but this is not a option at all...
    Just get single 7970m and it should work like a charm :)

    You can run the system I think, but they wont work together in any way.
