I have been having some issues with my R2.
just a few minuets ago i got a blue screen like a BSOD, but not a BSOD and it said exactly like this:
****** Your Hardware Has Malfunctioned
Please Contact Your Hardware Company
System Has Halted********
and ctrl alt delete didn't do anything so i had to do a hard restart. (i was playing BFBC2 when this happened.)
which then lead to the system refusing to restart. so i did a force shut down again (the bios wouldn't even load) but instead of shutting off, the fans went on high, and it went into what appeared to be Sleep Mode (lights shut off except the power button). so i had to take the battery out and unplug it to shut it off, and then it started up fine this time.
and since we are on the subject of issues with my lappy, i think i'm having issues with CrossfireX also. for example my 3dmark 11 score was below what it should have been, and BFBC2 wouldn't play more then 30fps with crossfire on (but maybe its just an issue with that game? Black ops still plays fine... but NFS World gets crappy fps also...)
also the starting up issue i stated earlier happens the same when putting it to sleep.
sleep
try to wake it up
keyboard lights up screen doesnt turn on
force shut down
sleep mode again instead of shutting down
battery out, pull plug, restart
boot and delete restart data
then its fine.
all of these issues started around the time i tried messing with the new 10.12 ati drivers. they wouldnt install right (still wont. ccc updates but drivers wont install) so i went back to 10.11 (including safe mode driver sweeper and fresh install)
idk what to do really, nothing i do seems to help. suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
specs are in sig.

Anytime I had that message it was because I was overclocking or using unstable drivers. You mentioned driver problems in your post so why don't you try going back to the official Dell 8.763 release and see if the problem persists.

Greetings,
Please see this knowledgebase article from Microsoft:
Hardware malfunction results in system error message
Thanks,
Gabe -
yeah, but this didnt happen upon boot, ot happened while playing a game ... and i only have the 5% factory(in bios) OC. the gpu's weren't overclocked... and the only setting i have changed in the BIOS is i put it at 5% (so vcore and the other options are still stock).
but i've been running like that since i got it, these issues are recent. (when i say i've been running it like that since i got it, i only put it in high performance mode when gaming -- which forces the cpu to 3.5 GHz. all other times its in balanced which at idle is only 1.2 GHz --- so its not CONSTANTLY at 3.5 ghz is what i'm trying to say) -
A 5% CPU OC with no increase in vcore is enough to cause that hardware malfunction message, especially when playing a CPU intensive game like bad company 2. If you raise the vcore or back down the BCLK to stock, it should stop happening.
-
okay i put the OC back to stock. i doubt it would really make it run better enough to matter anyway.
but now...
i uninstalled everything to do with CCC, all the drivers and everything (from the uninstalled that comes with the package, not driver sweeper) so i could go back to dell drivers, but now the display drivers wont install at all. none. not ati's or dells. its stuck in VGA mode. CCC and the HDMI audio codec installed, but the display drivers wont install.
and in Device manager the first Display Adapter has a error message on it which says (in properties) This Device Cannot Start (code 10)
even after "uninstalling" it and detecting it again, same message.
on a side note, i've ran black ops for 3-4 hours straight with 5% oc and never had it blue screen like that. BFBC2 is more intensive? lol weird! -
i guess i'm just going to do a Respawn back to factory. this sucks.
-
Yes 5% OC without a vbios increase will cause that blue screen in some games like BC2. On the other hand, some people won't have that problem. Not all chips are built equal. Using driver sweeper and registry cleaners tends to wipe everything out and can cause the problem you experienced. You could force the driver install via control panel but at this point you might as well do a respawn and start from there.
-
respawned and everything's back to normal. now i'm installing everything again.
-
How far would you increase just the vcore alone to compensate for the 5% bios overclock if you were having problems with it?
-
there are only 2 options. 75mv increase or 150mv increase
either one would probably work
R2 Issues- Blue screen but not BSOD?
