    Hello, new to the forum.

I was never to fond of the media control board on the m17x r2, looks, usability, etc. I started to think if it was possible to replace it with the board from the r3. I took a closer look and I see that the board looked a little trimmed down on the r3. So now I am wondering if I could replace it without changing out the whole front grill, palm rest/touch pad, and frame around the keyboard. I would not mind replacing all of that because the r3 looks better in my mind, and the touch pad on the r2 is rubbish. I am also aware that the cable that connects the media control board to the motherboard may not be the same one used on the r3.

    Thanks.

You can not replace the front grill, palmrest and frame around the keyboard with R3 parts as the R3 is much thinner than a R2, so it wont fit.

About the media control board, I do not know if that is the same size, but I doubt it will fit as the R3 is a smaller machine than the R2.

    Welcome to NBR btw :D
