    Hey guys,

Of course I know this question was answered so many times here, yet I still need an answer.

A proud owner of a M17X R2, which I only just got back from a place where they replaced both of my dead 280M's. First of all, there is a thing about my screen. It automaticaly puts the brightness a hell of a lot down when I open any dark-coloured stuff on the screen. And then it gets really hard to see anyhting.

Any solutions how to disable that?

Also, does it look like any new screens will be avaliable, so that we can get a tastier picture?

    Thanks a lot.

i highly doubt urs is an R2... its mostly an R1... and uses a double ccfl screen with auto brightness "feature" as they (dell) would call it... and as far as i know i dont think u can do much about it...

Thre is already a better screen on r2, the RGB led screen...

I don't think it is possible... as they use different connectors...

And to further oneabove, even if it was technically possible, and even if you were reading threads in this forum of people who have been trying screen switch-outs, I would highly discourage you doing that. The screen is delicate, laminated fairly tightly, and will be very hard to do without getting dust stuck between the LCD and the polycarbonate top filter (without a cleanroom or glovebox). This is all not to mention the near-ridiculous price of a stand alone screen that has any hope of fitting your Alien's lid case properly.
