So yesterday I was experimenting with throttlestop settings of TDP/TDC 100/85 x27,27,26,25 and aside from a spectacular wprime 155 1024M run, holding the 25 multiplier through unto completion, it shut off later in the near beginning of Witcher 2.

It wasnt a BSOD, it just shut off.

I pressed the power button to no avail, so I checked the power supply and the normally illuminated end of it was unlit, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and nothing, a few moments later it came back on, Im assuming something got too hot within it and had cooled sufficiently.

So I dialed back the TDP/TDC to 95/85.

Any others experience this? I hear there is another PSU with the same part number made by Delta? Does this PSU deliver higher wattage more reliably?

Any advice would be great. I am not having issues with high temps at TDP/TDC 100/85 now with the "book mod" and would like to keep these settings for graphically intensive applications.

    Thanks.

I too have been having the same problem on mine. If I place my power brink in front of my ac it helps last a little longer but not much. I'm hoping the 18x power supplies will work with the 17x r2 that way we have more power to play with. But my settings are 90/90 oc'ed in bios with 5% with voltage bump and the multiplier at 27. Video cards are set to stock speeds.

Oh that would be nice! Do you have a flextronics or delta PSU? I hear the Delta is better.

I tried 5% OC but I get BSOD while playing crisis 2, upping the voltage helps, but then my temps get very high, I may play around again with the BIOS OC now that the "book mod" has improved the cooling.

But ultimately, the problems Im having now arent hardware limitation they are the programming inherent in a host of recent games. Ive yet to resolve flickering and stuttering issues with Fallout New Vegas and just stopped playing it, I have Witcher 2 and even with the updated 11.5b driver and CAP5 there still is flickering! !?

Are you running any type of GPU OC? My PSU won't trip unless my GPUs and CPU are heavily OC'd. A CPU OC only shouldn't be tripping your PSU.

I have the flextronics PSU. It only fails when I have my cpu oc'ed and my gpus under full load such as when I'm benching or playing a modern game at maxed or near max settings.

I have both cpu and Gpu's OC as per sign. Never had issues with PSU trip. You may wan't to lower your settings a bit for daily use.

You can run a heavy OC on both for normal gaming if the 240 watt adapter is working properly. If you're running Prime95 and FurMark simultaneously, that's a different story. It will trip. If you want to find out for sure, go to your local hardware store and pick up a Kill-a-Watt. You can then measure how much wattage draw is tripping your PSU. Mine was around $30.

Hmmmm, I am very interested in the M18x 330w PSU, Ive read the write up on the 6970 GPU drop in modification in an R2 on techinferno which reported that its incompatible, but has anyone independently attempted to use this PSU?

Reason being is that with the flextronics PSU I frequently get a "not an original power adapter" message in my taskbar, and I wonder if this is the only issue.
