I am LOVING my R3 and I want to tweak everything to perfection. That said, there is something that is bugging me. When I login to Windows, from sleep or reboot, the startup sound crackles and sometimes seems cut off at the start. The feel I get from this is that my SSD is booting into Windows SO BLAZINGLY FAST that the sound drivers aren't ready yet to play the sound. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Any ideas on how to fix something like this?

Its the audio driver. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release. I recall reading this in another thread. If you compare the original driver to the updated driver, you'll note the original IDT driver did not display this behavior.

Update: I've found people with an HP laptop with IDT drivers who have the same problem. Seems some registry tweaks fixed it for some people. Other solutions seems to involve updated drivers and BIOS. I don't want to change my drivers, as I don't want to lose the Waves MAXX panel.

Is there anyone one here who is experiencing this bug with a normal hard drive?

From my understanding, the original IDT driver is the one that enables the Waves MAXX panel, whereas the updated one does not, am I right? If this is the case, that means the original driver has the issue as well :(

its simple... crackling noise comes from having 2 devices active in "sound" properties. best way to solve it? kill one of those devices (disable) and no crackling will exist anymore.

And I THINK I am using the same version as you - if I have the IDT panel/Waves MAXX, i am using the old ones, right?

Do you just say random things in posts that are remotely related to the OP and feel as if you have been helpful?

On my replacement R3, I have crackling in the left speaker. This is only certain frequencies. could this be related to the driver/control panel or is this hardware?

To me, that sounds like hardware. Does it happen on those certain frequencies every time they are played?

What is exactly the sound on the R3, why don't we get Creative SoundBlaster X-FI as an option, in the end its only a software upgrade. Can we not download it from Dell's driver section?
