    Hi.

Can my r3 do 5.1 over hdmi in games? If so how??? I've tinkered with the settings done the sound test and all the speakers work as expected, but when I load up a game only the left and right speakers work. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks.

Does the game do 5.1 sound? If yes, then you need to check the settings in HDMI device settings (under the playback tab in the sound control panel). Under the supported formats tab check the max number of channels. If it's less that 6, then the surround sound system the R3's HDMI is plugged into is not recognizing it as being 5.1 capable. Conversely, under max number of channels is will say HDCP, it needs to say supported, and under encoded formats, it should at least say Dolby Digital, DTS, etc. If not, then the system will not output 5.1 sound because it doesn't recognize the HDMI audio to be capable of that.
