Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered repeatedly already, I did attempt the search feature.

I'd like to upgrade from the 1501 card in my R3 to something that operates at the 5ghz band. I'm looking at:

    Bigfoot Killer 1102
    Bigfoot Killer 1103
    Intel 6250
    Intel 6300

Does the r3 have the third antenna threaded through the LCD automatically? I have seen other folks mention the third antenna already threaded through. Does it vary by configuration? (I haven't taken apart the system yet to check, but I will). If it isn't, I don't anticipate doing it, so that might rule out the use for the 1103.

Also, why does there seem to be such a scarcity for these cards? Newegg has the 6300 as deactivated, and they are only found sporadically on other sites like Amazon or Avadirect. Are there new advancements coming and what I am seeing is just the tail end of the product run?

Thanks in advance folks, and again apologies if this is better served elsewhere or has been asked or answered already.

Well if you like gaming and want low ping go for the Killer 1103. Yes the M17x R3 has 3 antennae. To get one, contact user Aikimox, he'll hook you up with one for a reasonable price.

From what I've seen on here, unless you order a 3-antennae card initially, the third antenna is taped under the keyboard.

I'm not sure if you'd have to route it through the screen yourself or if it's meant to go under the keyboard.

    Thanks for all the responses.

Would those of you who have used both the 6300 and the 1103 say they are pretty much the same thing except the 6300 has a longer range?

    Thanks!
