As long as the BIOS supports the CPU, it will work.

Bios A03 added support for new CPUs and the newly updated HM67 chipset. r3 already supported all of the non-XM i7s....Volunteer yourself to be the $1300 guinea pig so we can all find out!

So I officially do not have the option to do this XD, so anyone else willing to do it? i'd love to see the benchmarks from this thing with an OC'd 6970m (or for the enterprising, a 485m :) )

Why? WHY?! My God, this makes me vehement. Why would someone pay that much more for .2GHz (.1GHz Turbo Mode)? Is this "unlocked multiplier" feature really worth the extra $500?

In short, it depends. If you are the type that loves to overclock and push things to the limit, or simply need the best, or are a hardcore benchmarker, then yes. If you aren't, and just plan on using your cpu at stock speeds, maybe a lil overclock, then the 2820qm or even 2720qm would really show almost no visible difference from the 2920xm.
