Hi guys, I was a little curious as to what material is being used for the display case in Alienware M17x R3.

I am also interested to know if any of you have applied some kind of peelable layer on the area of the palmrest to protect it since its rubber coated.

I think it's a glass. I don't put anything on it. I just wipe it every now and then.

the screen is covered in plastic just use a fiber cloth on it and maybe some screen cleaner. Works just fine. I have used the skins for my m11x, they will hurt nothing protect pretty good and just peal right off. They leave nothing on the coating. Hope that helps. ;)

I use an external keyboard and a mouse to keep the palm-rest looking nice and clean.

Rubbing alcohol on a paper napkin does wonders around the house, and for your R3 too :) Use a moist microfiber/eyeglass cloth for the screen to avoid scratches :)
