    Hey Guys,

I just recieved my new M17x R3 about a week ago, and i've been using it pretty frequently, and so far i've been most impressed by it's capabilities and all that. But there's one thing thats been on my mind about it. For as long as i have had it I have only heard the fans come on once, and that was after, i think, it overheated, and the emergency shut off kicked in. When it rebooted the fans kicked on high, but i quickly shut it off to let it cool down. Is there a reason my fans might not be working correctly? or why they might not be recognizing the heat and turning on?

Have you ran a system diagnosis yet? There shouldn't be a reason why the fans are not working...

Monitor your temps. Download hwinfo and it should give you information about your temps and how fast your fans are running.

ok im haveing this same exact problem. here is a little more detial for u guys and plz can anyone help. i belive the reason this is happening is because i dont shutdown my laptop i just close it and when i need it open it up again so no wait time. after a couple times of doing this my fn + f4/5 buttons dont work for screen brightness so im thinking the fans kinda malfunction also and down work properly. like said above it has no fan noise what so ever and just shutdown on me, i go to feel the back and its freakin super hot. i turn on the laptop a couple mins later and fan kick in full speed to cool it down. everything works properly when its started from pressing power button to turn on rather then just closeing the laptop. any suggestions or help plz
