Just got my R3 and started launching games to see how they would run. Blops, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Portal, and Fallout 3 have all worked wonderfully so far. But when I launched Bioshock 2 I get a message that pops up saying "The video card in this computer does not meet the minimum video requirements for this game." It wont launch and crashes if I tell it to continue. I tried the first Bioshock and it instantly stops working and needs to be closed. Any suggestions on what to do?

Video card is the GTX 460m

Not that I know exactly what's wrong, but Bioshock + Bioshock 2 are horribly coded/designed games. They're fun, but it's readily apparent from just the main menu of both games that the developers spent no time optimizing and polishing their game. So there's a good chance it's not your R3's fault.

Thank you I'll start looking around.

They are extremely fun to play but I agree a little more polishing could be used.

I had a similar problem with Mass Effect 2 but that one resolved itself. I think it finally realised it needed to turn the 460 on instead of just using the integrated.

Yeah Bioshock has many different on-launch crashes. Just yesterday I helped a buddy get the game working; it turns out it requires OpenAL (free download from Creative) or else it crashes to desktop. The silliest thing is that it doesn't check for an OpenAL installation nor does it include it.

Its also feasible that the game won't see past your IGP, Optimus is strange like that.

Check your Optimus settings if you haven't already. Several different times i have had to manually set the 460 to play the game not the igp.

I was messing around and made a shortcut to the game and added -dx9 to the end and managed to launch the game. I still get the warning but at least I can play it now.
