I have an R3 configured with the AMD 6970m. For some odd reason I cannot switch the graphics. I've tried the FN+F7 and through the CCC. When I pres FN+F7 the confirmation window appears and I click 'Yes' but then nothing happens.

I have check the Device Manager and both the 6970m and the Intel HD Graphics show up under 'Display Adapters'. What is my issue?

I tried rebooting as well as a uninstall/reinstall of the graphics drivers with no success.

Try disabling the intel hd graphics card at the device manager and enabling it again. So what are you currently using right now? The 6970m?

Yes, I'm currently stuck on the 6970m. I tried enabling and disabling but still didn't work.

Hmm. Did you try reinstalling the alienware application thats on the resource cd that came with the system? The one controlling the Function buttons.

You basically can see the intel gpu icon at your taskbar.

I had the same issue and it ended up being a corrupted driver, here's what I did:

1-uninstall by opening the CCC installer package but choose uninstall

    2-reboot into safe mode(press f8 at startup/boot)

3-run Driver Sweeper and clean all ATI files, do not allow it to reboot your computer after cleaning just close it

4-open device manager, right click on both the Intel and AMD gpu's, click uninstall and when the pop up box opens click the "Delete driver files...." box and uninstall both of them, then reboot into normal windows

    5-install AMD/ATI driver, hit FN+F7 and reboot

6-install Intel iGPU driver and you should be good

For some reason even after using Driver Sweeper and the ATI uninstall some driver files stayed behind so I had to do all 3 methods to completely remove all the files to get it working.

Does the m17x r3 with the nvidia 460 have manual switching available? When I hit FN+F7 it says "This does not do anything."

No it doesn't, the Nvidia based systems either have 3D which disables the IGP or Optimus which isn't something you can manually select without whitelisting a program in your control panel then opening it.

I think mine is getting stuck with the intel graphics.. when i try to launch bioshock 2 i get a message saying "The video card in this computer does not meet the minimum video requirements for this game." Idk what to do.. Ive set the global setting in the nvidia control panel to the High-performance NVIDIA processor as well as added it to the one under program setting but still no luck.

The only way I know which one is running is when I switch modes. It will usually prompt me to switch graphics. If not in the battery or plug in mode mode it will say igp or gpu when I hit FN + F7 in a dialog box and I change it accordingly. Not sure either how to test if it is really switching.

Never mind just discovered the switchable graphics catalyist control center. duh. . .
