I am starting this to see what the rate at which R3s arrive defective/problematic IN ANY WAY.
This can be as small as a skewed piece of the frame to BSOD's and so on.
If you wouldn't mind posting what your system specs are, and how long you have had it and the problems you have had. That would be great.

Again, this is going to be a very skewed poll because you are asking people who have posted they have problems. If you wanted to make this survey legit, it should be posted somewhere where everyone who has order a M17x R3 thus far can respond.
My two cents. -
The poll ask's if you have or haven't had problems...
How is that skewed exactly?
And this is in the M17x sub-forum..so.. -
I voted I had problems.
First computer had-
Dead pixels, broken speaker mesh, rattle, plastic wrapper in heatsink, keyboard misaligned -
Speakers wire mesh broken. Waiting for a replacement model.
-
My only problems occurred during self-inflicted hardware upgrades and reinstall of the OS on a new SSD, so I don't count that as defects in manufacturing. I voted "no problems."

does skin peel off count as defected?
-
They seem notorious for this.. The replacement system even has a link or two broken but I'm at the point I'll accept it and move on, It isn't nearly as bad as the original. At least nothing else is wrong
I would count that as defective unless you dropped it or ran it across concrete or something. -
Anything!
Even a small scratch in the corner of the laptop! -
W*F! I accidentally pushed that i had problems while fiddling around. LOL
Disregard mine. I don`t own a R3 yet. Moderators: Please remove my vote if you can
Sorry
-
Yeah. And I forgot to mention the buzzing sounds of my speaker. I hope my replacement wouldn't have more problems.
-
Lets hope the DELL karma ninjas don't read this for a few weeks until yours arrives..
-
LOL Don`t say that... maybe i should advertise the R3 on all gaming forums to make up for this
-
No offense Zog but actually, remedy1978 is correct. From a purely statistical point of view, the results of the poll can't be considered reliable because the sample population is not a random sample of the entire population of R3 owners.
Even if forums like this did not tend to attract people looking for solutions to problems, without taking an actual random poll of all R3 owners there is no way the results will be accurate.
You can read all about it here: Statistical sampling
I would guess that a large part of the population here does not even own an R3 yet, or owns another model and there is no way to exclude them from participating, this will only further invalidate the results ...
I am not sure if you could make any accurate inference at all using these numbers. -
What I really wanted to achieve in the first place was just to see how many people have had problems, and what those problems were.
I can understand how this wont be a valid source of stats, but at the same time, there is no way to get those stats unless you worked for DELL in a high lvl position. -
I completely understand. It is an interesting poll of the group here to know how many folks have issues. It would be interesting to see a comparison of their configurations and types of issues as well but for that to be meaningful, you would need to ask for only people with problems to respond.
I guarantee Dell has multiple teams of people who do nothing all day long but look at statistics of systems of all types. They have to so they can tweak their production lines and optimize assembly and build quality. -
Do they have a particular stance on dead pixels? I assume if you only have a small amount of dead pixels they probably won't replace your display right? Do LED's even have this problem now? I don't know anything about LED's, I've only owned LCD's.
-
No problems with mine.
-
Do they require you to give your pc back to get a new one, or can you hold onto it until you get the new one?
-
Get to keep your old one till the new one arrives(from what I have seen on here and other forums and YT), I have seen people with both their old system(broken that will be shipped back) next to their new one.
I would also think they want you to use the same box the new one came in to save "some" money... -
I have to wait for the new one, then that's the time I would ship this back.
-
perhaps a different type of poll listing a selection of defects and let people tick if they have experienced any of them, that would give a comparison or trend of the most common issues of people having issues
e.g.
bsod out of the box
dead pixels
poor audio
buzzing audio
broken body parts
missaligned panels
performance issues
hardware failure
etc -
Oh that's good, at least you're not stuck completely without a pc for any point in time.
-
mods can close this thread new one should be more informative....
-
had BSOD issues when installing my SSD, but after getting the right drivers (thanks Madrake) I haven't had any issues.
-
self inflicted lol doesn't count
-
I'm with this guy. Also add scratches to the chassis/rubber coating too.
This made me LOL
@OP, I expect that your (this) thread will not get very far. You're likely to get a bunch of us who've had problems posting/voting in here, and new readers will think that ALL R3s have problems, when in fact, these problems may just be a few "isolated" incidents. Stop tricking ppl!
R3 ONLY POLL: Have you had problems with yours?
