Misaligned screen but fixed that myself, its real easy. The rest of the system has no problems what so ever.

I'm really unimpressed with my R3:
First problems (within a week of having it): Media Bar lifting on the right side, misaligned screen, some squeaky keys, something getting on DVDs I put in and randomly disconnecting from my wireless network

Recent problems: Mouse going slow in the top right corner (fixed by GPU and motherboard replacement), sounds not playing all the way, and keyboard going down when I press around the WASD keys

The day right after the GPU and Motherboard replacement:
My CPU won't clock up (stuck at 797 MHz) and the lights for Num Lock, Scroll lock and Caps lock aren't working

Not my original (current) one. But the replacement (the one I sent back) did have a squeaky space bar. Sometimes I really wish that lappies were waterproof and we could just spray some WD-40 in it lolz.

resume from sleep to blank screen here. And everytime I exit a game it goes completely blank screen. Had to do a hard reset so annoying.

CPU-Z. I tried it earlier after reading about someone's cpu that would stick at 7xx mhz. Mine was 7xx at idle, and then I ran dolphin (mario kart wii), and it jumped to 299x mhz (~3ghz). Hope that helps.

Woah! That's new :( You may have to take it apart and reassemble it, cuz sometimes they don't "snap" parts in correctly.

Got a refurb m17x r3 a couple weeks ago. After spending nearly 8 hours with tech support figuring out why my machine wouldnt charge, they sent a tech out to replace a motherboard. Actually, this was kind of a neat experience for me because I have never seen a laptop COMPLETELY dismantled before. So I would chalk this up to a hardware failure/DOA. +1 to the tech who replaced my mobo though, that guy knew what he was doing.

I was starting to think after surfing on these forums , Faults and defects are included in the price.

Actually. Just noticed mine has the same defects. It's on both sides, but not as much of a gap as yours is. But nonetheless it has the gapping. :(

Where's the answer for "No issues found. Working perfectly"??

A pool just listing issues seems a bit skewed.

^^ Man's gotta point. But, the title of the thread is Problems & Defects, meaning we're trying to figure out what # of people have certain problems.

Got my M17xR3 this week, went through fresh install after setting in Crucial M4 SSD.So far i am one of those lucky ones without any problems in the build quality, though nothing is perfect. Now,for the real problems underneath.I found that the "Power Saver" option causes BSOD each & everytime i enabled it,after around 5-10 min.Weird thing is,i chose "Balance" & change all settings to be same as "Power Saver",no BSOD.Another small problem is compatibility issue with SteelSeries Xai mouse, which causes system to freeze even before i can get to the boot screen.I have done countless reinstalls to confirm that these 2 problems are consistent.
