Whats the max frequency you can use in these machines?
Cant actually find it in the user manual but assuming 1600mhz as thats the best grade offered?
Also, best ram to get? HyperX is up there, but what about 8GM modules?

if you go into your bios, you'll see an option there for 2133 and 1866 ram
hyperx is what most people get for 1600mhz and above because its readily available
i'm tempted myself to get some higher end ram...but seeing how 1600mhz ram will give me a 1% increase in performance, i just haven't bothered -
Thanks slick, still getting used to this beast of a machine, cant wait to upgrade it but couldnt justify it on the website as the components are rather pricey upgrades and wont be amazing quality.
Going to be getting an SSD too, and have a good amount of cash to spend so looking at something in the 250-400 Gb range storage wise. (aswell as upping the GPU).
Having said that 2133 wont be easy to come by I bet. -

You can use up to 1866Mhz Plug&Play, but some users have experienced instability at that level. HyperX 1600 (and presumably other DDR3 1600) works fine, either via PnP or XMP-2, and performs virtually identically to the 1833 memory. According to the manual, the R3 can accept up to 32GB (4x8GB) of DRAM, but 8GB modules are rare and expensive.

the 32 GB is the limitation by chipset ? Whats the name of the chipset in R3 ? Or is it limited, because the 16GB chip wasnt build yet ?

i have yet to see 2133 ram lol...i saw 1600mhz so-dimm yesterday at the local computer store. They were hyperx ordered for a customer. If i get the itch to upgrade something, the ram is the only thing left on my computer currently so maybe i'll treat myself to some for Christmas
wow...that SSD size will get expensive. -

FYI sometimes they say there is a limite because there was no larger chips to test it with. But seeing the price of 8GB chips versus 4GB who cares?

I shall see what happens when i come to order in the next few weeks, and see if I take the plunge on 32gb 1600 or just settle for 16gb of 1600, 1866 or 2133, will see what the bank balance says after i put this SSD on order when i decide on one.
saying that a 512 M4 is £589 inc VAT and Delivery (im in the UK), or could save more and get one of the following: OCZ Vertex3 240GB £359, 256GB M4 £299, 128GB M4 £189 or 120GB Vertex 3 for £165,
again its all about having a little nosey, as Ill have to get a larger secondary HDD and sell the two in here, we shall see on that front, still pondering with my card infront of me. -

Anything above that will be run in single channel...
now i don't know anyone that has actually put in 32gigs of ram, so i don't know how stable your system would be
Of all those SSD's, probably the 256gig M4 -
Also its got 4 DIMMS so Ill most likley just put 16/32Gb in it. If theres empty ports I feel like their being wasted if they dont have something in them -
Should also ask has anyone got the serial number of the latest 4Gb 1600/1866/2133 Modules of HyperX for reference or the 2x4GB 1600/1866/2133 Kits?

They do exist at like 5-10 times the price of a 4GB chip.

32 GB isnt needed really, i think. 16 would be ok for a couple of next years...
-
Everything above 16GB you need Windows Pro or up.
-
Ive got ultimate so thats not an issue, and could get 32gb of 1600 for around £450 - £500 so im assuming thats around $800 ish?!
