I had been having strange performance out of my R3 during netflix sessions lately so I decided to check out some stuff. Turns out that I have somehow lost the ability to tweak the systems fan speed at all. They don't even show up in After Burner anymore. They do still kick in under load so that's good.

The gpu idles around 60c and doesn't seem to go over 70c under load. However, it seems that not only have the fan controllers disappeared from my monitoring software, but one of them has stopped working all together. This is still a relatively new system since I got it in May so I wouldn't think the fan should be dying already. It seemed to happen after I had to use Respawn last week. Could it be lost settings or something or is it hardware? I apologize if this seems silly, however I want to take good care of my system and especially not cook it's insides.

Perhaps you can try Sapphire Trixx? It has fan control options. From experience, that's the normal idle & load temps for 6970m/6990m.

I have the 460m good sir. It just freaks me out..nothing is overheating..but there is definitely a fan not working. It's still under warranty so I should probably try to get it fixed.
