This news is a little bit old but I thought I would put it out there.
Here are the supposed requirements for Battlefield 3:
MINIMUM
Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHzRAM2GB
Video Card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card
RECOMMENDED
Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU RAM 4GB
Video Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850
This gives me a lot of hope that my R3 should run BF3 well enough to enjoy it. I was getting a little worried as of lately with all the rumors of how demanding it would be. If these specs are true than it means anyone with a 6970m is meeting the Recommended requirements. Perfect enough that the 6970m is supposed to be equal to a desktop GTX 460 or Radeon 6850.
I hope to be able to run BF3 at 1080P, AA/AF at the lowest, HBAO off and most other settings to high or max with decent FPS. That is of course, with my 6970m overclocked like hell.![]()

These are fake specs DICE already said they have not released the real Recommended Specs.

Oh, I didn't realize that. Can you link me to where you read that?
-
Well, I guess we will have to wait until they release the Beta.

Yah, I was bummed out when I saw they where fake as well
, but we don't really have much to worry about. We may not be able to max this out, but we will be in the High to ultra settings. (not medium low like some ppl think) We did pay and get High performance gaming PC's for a reason right.
-
Battlefield 3 was the only reason I got the R3. I needed a new laptop for school and I thought it would be cheaper to get a laptop like an R3 than getting a desktop and a cheaper laptop. I have a really strong urge to save up and buy a gaming desktop now.

Yah BF3 is the reason im thinking of picking up two 6970's! lol I really wanna be able to enjoy this game I am waiting for my 920XM to be delivered. -
Actually you could get a decent $700 laptop and a $1300 gaming desktop. The desktop could probably have a 6970 and an i7 2600k.
-
You may be right, but I wouldn't settle for anything less than a high end rig. If I got a desktop, I would get an i7 2600k and a GTX 590. I wanted a 6990 originally but I heard it was way too loud. That alone would be $1100.
Anyways, I am going to save up for a high end desktop starting now lol. I don't know what I will do with my R3 then. Well actually I could just make it last me a really long time. I'm sure it will break down before my warranty expires and I can get then new M17X Rx. LOL -
Why are there people on here, who ALREADY OWN the R3, but still doubt how powerful it is? Of course it will run BC3! And of course it will run it well at high settings. You do realize your laptop is exponentially more powerful than the consoles that this game is simultaneously being released on, yes?
-
Yes sounds like a plan. I have a 3 year accidental soooo.......
......
lol
-
That's a very good point, but I really want to max out BF3 as much as I can. I know the R3 will run it very well, just not maxed out. The console version will be trash, it's going to be running at 720P and capped out at 30fps.

OP's listed game requirements are for desktop, right? Do our 6970s compare to the 6850 in the OP, or do we all need new computers already?
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
They are not real Dookie! The requirements are a lie!
But your 6970 sure does equal a 6850 and a GTX 460!

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
It's cuz of DICE and the mind fricking they have done!
making BF3 into what Crysis 1 was. The "Crippler" statement made by dice saying no computer in existence now can tackle this mountain of awesomeness of a game they are releasing to us on the 25th of Oct. The sheer mind boggling beauty of a demo was run on a GTX 580(desktop) which could only run the game not maxed out!
Makes you feel inadequate. (lol I am just kidding about that last part)
-
I am a COD fan and I have to say BF3 looks really nice
Anyway, that is the reason I am going for a decent laptop. Granted I could change the card, but I rather spend the money on a nice desktop card. Also, I just rebuilt my desktop - so my i7 2600K, H70 cooler, 8GB 1600, 600GB velociraptor, GTX 580 better run this darn game nicely...lol -
Yea that desktop should run it great. Like Mkelliny said, the trailers for the game were running on a GTX 580.
-
Thats good news
The 600 series could be out by then though
-
