yes but to emulate them is quite a feat. most modern systems cant emulate a PS2 well. im going to toss a number and say to run it emulated vs natively requires 50-80 times the native units spec

And what's the PS2 comparable to? Remember that it still takes modern processors (i.e. SB or possibly 1st gen i7) to run PCSX2 at a playable level and even that's not for every game.

Not quite 50-80 times the spec, but around 10 times the spec is an accurate statement.

It'd depend on the game. There are some games that would run 100% smoothly on my 2GHz Core 2 Quad (and remember it only uses 2 cores, so it's like having a 2GHz core 2 duo effectively) due to the fact that some games are compatible with the engine 'speedhacks' cranked up to make them run faster.

Yuppo. Tried Lego Star Wars Complete Saga the other day, and it lagged pretty badly... like no more than 20fps max :( I wonder if the new version of Dolphin would solve that...

    Download MSI Afterburner....

The best OC so far is 825/1650/1500

    stock is 675/1350/1250

    It's a fair bit faster.

So I haven't played Dolphin lately, but what's the diff in version 7571 from 7415? Everything seemed fine in 7415, and performance seems the same in 7571. Is there something I'm missing?

They fix issues posted in the bug reports...Speed isn't exactly being worked on as much as fixing bugs.

GPU speed matters little in dolphin, you need the fastest dual core CPU money can buy and then OC it. An i7 640m overclocked to 3.8ghz will play almost every game fullspeed, even Metroid Prime, Twilight Princess, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Sandy Bridge dual core processors aren't as fast and the the quad cores are pointless considering the emulator only uses two cores for the main emulation.

Updated to 7571. Games seem to run a bit smoother, staying near 60fps all the time.

Should we ever use the user uploaded revisions on the forums? Or the official ones from the site are fine?

Look for the user revisions with high ratings and use those, and pay attention to what is actually in the revision. somethings may break, other things may get a speed boost though.
