I'm having an issue with certain sounds causing my left speaker to hiss or produce sort of a static sound. It doesn't really matter the volume level, just certain frequencies.

Best example I can give is this song at the 1:20 mark does it to the speaker no matter the volume: YouTube - Art vs. Science - Hollywood

Is it a defect or just a limitation of the speaker? Right speaker seems to be fine, it's the left so something maybe got damaged during shipping?

Uh, mine sound fine when playing that song. Only time I have problems is when I watch a movie that is not the best quality. Other than that-speakers are great.

Thanks, guess it's just a bad speaker. Distorts at higher pitches like that and kind of vibrates, hard to explain.

I have had this problem with my previous computer (M15x). It sounds like a loud vibration. This is not a bad speaker. The thing that causes this issue is the white plastic infront of the speaker.

The white plastic infront of the speaker is loose and vibrates when the speaker is playing certain frequencies, especially normal speech.

This is a result of dry glue between the transparant plastic layer and the whitish reflective matirial infront of the speakers. You can fix this yourself with a bottle of glue, but it will look UGLY.

Your computer is under warranty since r3 has not been out that long. Do NOT glue this yourself since you have the warranty. Call Dell and make them replace the whole soundkit(incluesive the front plastic)with a new one and the problem will be solved.

Have a nice day and good luck!
