Just got back from holiday and was greeted with a black screen and 4 beeps when I stitched on my mx17. I swaped out all the dimms and the laptop boots fine with each one on its own in slot 1. However as soon as I use 1 and 2 I get the 4 beep memory error, same issue if I try and use slot 4. Laptop boots fine with any combination of dimms in 1 and 3, can't seem to find any similar threads with these errors. Does anyone have any ideas before I run the costumer support gauntlet?

sounds like bad mobo controller or bad DIMM slots if the ram itself runs fine. Sounds like you might need a new mobo to me, but I'm not an expert in the RAM troubleshooting area so maybe someone else can give you something to try.

How many modules do you have? Can you test the 4 of them with one?. If the issue persists with that config probably the RAM slot got faulty and you will need a replacement. If that's the case please send us an e-mail to [email protected] with your service tag, phone and a brief description of the issue and we'll get back to you ASAP.
