Just got back from holiday and was greeted with a black screen and 4 beeps when I stitched on my mx17. I swaped out all the dimms and the laptop boots fine with each one on its own in slot 1. However as soon as I use 1 and 2 I get the 4 beep memory error, same issue if I try and use slot 4. Laptop boots fine with any combination of dimms in 1 and 3, can't seem to find any similar threads with these errors. Does anyone have any ideas before I run the costumer support gauntlet?

sounds like bad mobo controller or bad DIMM slots if the ram itself runs fine. Sounds like you might need a new mobo to me, but I'm not an expert in the RAM troubleshooting area so maybe someone else can give you something to try. :)

How many modules do you have? Can you test the 4 of them with one?. If the issue persists with that config probably the RAM slot got faulty and you will need a replacement. If that's the case please send us an e-mail to [email protected] with your service tag, phone and a brief description of the issue and we'll get back to you ASAP.
