    I've just bought a m4 ssd.

Fresh install of windows and it won't boot up on first power on, it won't detect the drive so I have to hold the power button turn it off then turn it on again straight away and then it loads up windows.

Tried both raid and AHCI no difference, swapped ssd between drive bays no difference, tried 08 and 10 bios no difference.

Do i have a dud drive or am i doing something wrong?

    Ssd is on 000f firmware

    Any help would be great

Have you tried getting in touch with Crucial's support team? They're really excellent and responsive. They should be able to recommend something, they might send you a new drive to try in case it is the drive that's bad.

You may need to be insistent with them that you have tried everything short of buying a 2nd SSD to test against, and cannot do that due to the cost - nor should you honestly have to. Having swapped between two known good drive bays and having the same problem, it does look like hardware, but you could try it in another machine just to see if it boots or is even recognized there - you should be able to boot, you just won't have drivers. My experiences with Crucial's warranty have always been very good, they're usually excellent about honoring it and then some. Try with someone else and reference your first call, you probably have a case ticket number for the call. Tell them you want to claim the warranty as it really appears to be the disk.

Just out of curiosity, Have you run CrystalDiskInfo while the drive is working, or a similar program yet? Just wondering if the drive is performing properly when it is performing.

So after messing round most of the night, i came across someone who had the same problem and they downgraded from 000F to 0309 so what the hell i tried it aswell (which was a pain in the because it seems very tempermental)

Anyway finally it works as intended :)
