So lately my Alienware M17x R3 hasn't been able to run unless its connected to the charger because it no longer recognizes my charger enough to charge the battery.

Anyways, i was told i should remove the CMOS battery and do a full power drain to see if that changes anything. It didn't. Now i know i need a new charger.

However, upon turning on my laptop for the first time after replacing the coin-cell battery, my laptop kept beeping in series' of 5 loud beeps. Finally i just turned it off and turned it back on. The beeping was no longer there but now i get a BSOD upon trying to start Windows 7.

The BSOD just flashes really quickly so i can't read what it says.

Not sure about the BSOD, but the 5 beeps are telling you to change the CMOS battery. Change out the battery and the charger and see what happens.

Hey Knocturne, you should disable the automatic restart on system failure to see the error message. You are able to do that from the Advance Boot Options menu. There are some other steps in that article to find out the error code if you're able to enter Windows successfully. Keep us posted.

So i fixed the BSOD by simply changing from RAID to AHCI in the setup utility. Now it starts up. The battery charging problem still exists, and i've ordered a new charger.

Hopefully, my power problem fixes with the new charger. If not, ill try a new CMOS battery

Good deal with the BSOD. You can get a new CMOS battery from the local drug store, they're all of $5-$8. You just need to cut the shrink tube from the old one to remove it from the holder, put the new one in the hold, and wrap it with electrical tape. That will eliminate the 5 beeps.

I don't think the CMOS battery in the R3 is wrapped.

Oops, my bad! I was thinking of the R2. R3's battery you can pry out with a plastic pry tool.
