    Hey all,

So sometimes, my sound will stop working. Even though the volume bar is all the way maxed, no sound will come out. This can occur while either external speakers are plugged in, headphones are in, or just normal laptop speakers. This usually happens when I start up winamp, or SC2. With a restart, sound returns to normal. This happens very rarely, but I was just wondering what's the cause of this? Hardware or software? Is there anything I should do, e.g. update sound drivers?

    TYIA!

i'd definitely reinstall the sound drivers from your driver cd. Strangely, i'm getting this same issue on my sons desktop. I'll do some driver reinstalls this weekend and see if that solves it

By sound drivers, you mean the IDT drivers that Dell supplies, right?

K, reinstalling it now. I prolly won't notice a diff until the problem happens again lol.

    Thx for your help!
