Hey all first let me state that I am extremely thankful for all of the help and assistance I have received from you all on the forums, but now it seems I am in need of some help please!
Today I received my m17x r4 and installed the SSD into the extra bay. I did a clean install onto the SSD and formatted the HDD, however I did not delete the old partitions. I just formatted everything and installed the OS onto the SSD.
After that I ran the resource disk that came with the laptop, but wasn't sure exactly which drivers to install from that CD. I ended up installing them all and I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do.
The reason I am a little worried though is because my WEI was a 7.7 because my processor scored a 7.7 and my RAM scored a 7.8. Everything else was a 7.9. How did my processor get a 7.7?? My setup is as follows:
Intel 3720
500GB HDD
256GB SSD
6GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate
Blu-Ray
Killer Wireless 1103
I just have a feeling I did something wrong and can't figure it out. I followed the thread on how to clean install windows on the SSD, but that post didn't tell me exactly which drivers to install out of all of them.
I almost feel like re-wiping the laptop again and trying over. I guess my problem is I feel like I did something wrong and would like someone to either reassure me that everything I did was correct or point me in the right direction! Thanks everyone!

Run your system for a few days and see what happens. If no error messages pop up and you don't notice any weird behavior, then don't worry about it. I don't put much stock into WEI. Sometimes it scores high, sometimes low. I ran the assessment twice on the same computer with the same hardware. It jumped 0.5 higher the second time because I installed updated drivers and somehow thought there was new hardware installed in the machine.

Okay sounds good. I guess I'll just keep going until I run into some problems, if any. I just tested out WoW and had settings maxed out on ultra and was getting 150fps and higher. No slow spots or anything.
One question though...are there negatives to having unnecessary drivers installed? Would that throw my computer off in any way? -
My processor is listed as a 7.5 on the WEI... either way, I've never cared for that number much. All I care about are temperatures and framerates. I'll let the benchmarkers play their numbers games

Dude, there are better CPUs than the 3720. That's the right score for that. The only time I've gotten a 7.9 CPU score was to OC an i7 to 5.0ghz.
I'm sure you did everything right. -
I don't understand what your problem is? Are you concerned your WEI is too low???
-
Yeah you're right about the CPU and how there are definitely better ones out there.
I guess I'm just concerned because I have never installed an SSD and gotten hands on with the computer before until today. I was just worried I may have missed something and someone could point it out. I'm sure I'll be fine, just over thinking right now. It's been a long night haha. Sorry to be so noobish!
Thanks for everyone's help!!! -
But what is the problem? What do you think you did wrong? Are the scores too low for you or what?
I'm surprised your RAM is 7.8 with only 6GB installed. I've only got 8GB, but still score a 7.8. I have the 2760QM and my score is 7.5. My GPU scores a 7.5 (I've had a higher score when I OCed it), and my HDD is 5.8 (No SSD). You're scores seem right, perhaps a little inflated, but if that's what it scored, then that's what it scored.
Edit: Correction, my HDD scores a solid 5.9, not 5.8. Huge difference. -

I've never put much weight into Wei scores. if you want to know how your computer is really performing, do some benches like crystaldiskmark, 3dmark11 etc

Just ran WEI again and my score for GPU went up to 7.6 and my GPU went up to 7.7. All it took was a slight OC. I don't care much for WEI either. I just run it once in a while to see if I can get closer to 7.9
