I fell asleep on the couch, kicked over my drink (thank God it had a lid on) and got a few drops of sweetened tea on the keyboard. Took it all apart to make sure nothing got down under the palm rest or motherboard, but now I have a spacebar that's sticking pretty badly. I came across this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/532173-removing-keyboard-key.html and they are suggesting washing it with soap and water and letting it dry. Has anyone done this with an R4? The keyboards look the same minus a numpad. I guess if it doesn't work I can pick up a new one for around $40...

Not sure if it works but if you're willing to get a new one you might as well try and let us know, I'm sure you're not the only one whe has spilled a drink and would like to know if it can be cleaned :D

Also, if you need help getting another keyboard send me a PM and I'll take care of it.

I need to PM you anyway, I've been meaning to extend the warranty... Lol, perfect time! You know what's sad though, I've never spilled on a laptop before and the first time, I kick it? Lot's of skill...

I would try cleaning by cotton swab with alcohol, disk soap or mild detergent.

It's sitting on top of my tower right now - best airflow I could think of, I'm gaming to make it dry faster. Multitasking :D

Get a bag of rice and bury the keyboard in it. The rice will absorb the moisture and let it sit in this tub for a day.

I've dishwashered (no soap) a netbook keyboard and this worked well.

Now where did I put that mummified cat :D.

OP, done this a couple times with success. Just left the keyboard in a warm place for a few days...
