So I own a m17x R3 system, and basically I installed a 256gb SSD by Corsair onto the system about 2 weeks ago. I've been noticing based on what I have read on the forums that I probably am NOT running TRIM which is probably a huge problem as my system is still running on RAID mode. The secondary Drive is just a 1TB samsung drive that's clearly not a SSD format. DO I have to go back to AHCI? and reinstall windows all over again?
Yes my system every now and then doesn't have the Intel Drive thingy kick in and I often have to reboot over and over again until it kicks in and can boot up the SSD drive properly. This has been annoying from time to time as it can't detect my OS![]()

Put you SSD in slot 1 not 0. Reinstall Windows. But before you reinstall create the disable LPM fix file, store it on a USB stick.
Create LPM fix file by copying the text below in notepad and save as: "LPM.reg"
Do the following which I found in another topic and used myself.
-Rename DVD/Bluray from D: to E: in Computer Management.
-Rename your HDD to D: in Computer Management.
-Disable hibernation by running CMD with administrative privileges and typing "POWERCFG /HIBERNATE OFF" SSDs boot fast so there is no need to ever hibernate.
-Disable virtual memory for the SSD and enable for the hdd, I left it on auto and got higher bechmark numbers so its up to you. You wil have a little more space if you disable it.
Now insert your Alienware resource Disk and install the following in the mentioned order:
-Intel Chipset HM67 (R289402)
-Intel Management Engine (R290940)
-Gigabit network (R289538)
-Wifi (R289412)
-Intel RST (302553)
Now you have internet connection, go to Dell support and download the USB driver since its not on the resource disk. Once thats done plug in the USB with the LPM file on it and execute it, reboot and no more freezes. Continue below.
-Realtek PCIE (R289405)
-Audio (R289922) New version on support site to download if you want.
-Synaptics (R289406)-
-Bluetooth (R289410)
-Alienware OSD (R289920)
-Freefall Sensor (R289409)
Now you have all the drivers installed exept the video drivers and Command Center, do not install them yet.
Now run Windows update and install all update's it can find, will take a couple of hours. If no more update's can be found continue below.
Once thats done install the video drivers:
-Video (3D 460M should install R291227 and R291236. ATI should install ATI drivers then IGP drivers while in IGP mode - R289926 and R291069.)
-Installed Alienware Command Center (R290173)
Now you have a clean, and if everything went correct freezless system.
Download Cristal Disk Mark here: CrystalDiskMark - Software - Crystal Dew World run 64bit mode and post results on forum.
