    Hi

    I ordered an m17x with 6Gb 1600 MHz ram

    i have Corsair Vengeance 4+4 = 8GB 1600 MHz ($50)

I was thinkin of adding that 8gb in my M17x.

Will that be a good idea, since the 6GB will still be on Hybrid Dual Channel

or do you think i shud buy another 8gb..... i know ram doesnt make diff, but since they are so cheap why not ;)

    so shud i stay with (4GB+2GB) + (4GB+4GB)
    or just (4GB+4GB)
    or (4GB+4GB) + (4GB+4GB)

all will be 1600 MHz DDR3

Unless you think you're going to need 16gb of ram then it is a waste, But the config is probablly 4+2 right? Just pop out the 2g and pop in the 8. Unless you are ocd and can't sleep at night unless you have a 8+8 configuration in which case definitley buy another 8g stick!

For starters, you should learn how to spell should.

After that, I would say having an uneven number of RAM sucks. You want 2 of the same size stick in each set of slots (or just use one set of slots). This allows dual channel operation.

Is your Corsair RAM CAS 9 or 11? If it's 9, I believe it would slow it down to CAS 11 if you had the stock RAM in as well (Stock is CAS 11).

I also agree that 16GB is a waste, unless you know you particularly need it (most people do not).

I'll add the standard response to your question as it is relevant

Begin auto response --"Save the money spent on worthless/useless ram and invest in an ssd" --end auto response.
