This thread may be helpful to members of this particular forum, since we have 4 RAM slots at our disposal. Dell's annoying RAM selling habits have affected us all, but we can stick it to the man if we help each other out. I'm sure many people have removed the stock RAM and it just collects dust, or worse, goes into the garbage.
So, I'll start the ball rolling - I will have 1 spare 2GB, 1600 stick of RAM, and I will be looking for 3 (or 1, and I will buy an 8GB kit from Newegg) 4GB sticks.
Let me know if you want to do some trading. Also feel free to put up your own requests and offers!

I tried something like this before but sadly you will be asked to do this at the market place forum ..
although many owners over seas can find stuff this way -
Yeah, I'm worried about that. The marketplace is a lot less traveled, especially by people just looking to get rid of or attain some crappy stock RAM. I think this thread/request is especially pertinent to M17X/18X owners, so I hope the mods keep it here.

Nothing really, except that it's usually an off-brand and it's CAS 11. My R3 has the stock RAM, and I never had a problem.
Basically, it's crappy when compared to CAS 9 Crucial, Kingston, etc. -
Stock RAM usually flashes and performs really well, see my sig.
-
Where do you see the difference between CAS 11 and CAS 9 and how much of a difference are you seeing? Where is the CAS 11 impacting you that CAS 9 is better?
-
I never said I see a difference. But if I am buying new RAM, and the price difference is small, of course I am going to buy CAS 9. Can we stay on topic, anyway? I just want to know if people who got aftermarket RAM have their stock RAM available for trade
-
How can you say its crappy compared to CAS9 if there is no difference? I dont know anything about this, I'm just curious.
-
^^^^ What he said. I'm was just confused as to why you said stock ram is crap, and are now trying to get some
. I just use regular corsair value ram in my R2. Only when benchmarking do I switch my system over to my Hyper X RAM.
-
I have said nothing contradictory. As stated before, stock 11 is crappy when compared to a better branded 9. It's a COMPLETELY relative statement, and NOT that important. When not compared to slightly better RAM, it is not at all crappy, except maybe for the unknown-ness of the brand.
To answer Jinda, CAS 9 RAM will run a TINY bit faster than CAS 11. CAS latency used to be pretty important in getting the most out of your system, but now it's mostly just a numbers thing.
What I want, is to even out the silly stock 6GB of RAM that is coming with my new systems (an M17X and an M14X). My end RAM amounts in each system will depend on what might come up offered in this thread.
There, have I explained myself enough? Can we please drop it? I have seen several people mention throwing their stock RAM out, so I really hope someone might add it to this thread.
To reiterate my scheme:
We get 10 people with 6GB of RAM...we do some swapping, trading, pooling, etc, and everyone ends up with a nice, ideal amount of RAM for their needs. Good plan, yes? -
hey what about my good old 1333 samsung 4 g stick
considering 2*4 adata low voltage 1600 ram in nearest chance ..
wait a minute .. I live in Egypt >> have fun guys

Good idea. Unfortunately, I don't have much to contribute. However, I have 2 x 2GB Hynix 1333 mem modules that came with my R3. Used for not more than 1 hour. Happy to give them to anyone who sends a US address by PM. First come (if anyone), first served. No warranties, no further information. Will send by cheapest method.
